The first meeting of the Advisory Committee to oversee the activities of Remediation Coordination Cell (RCC) for the Ready Made Garments (RMG) sector in Bangladesh was held on 10th April, 2019 at 11 AM in the Conference room of the Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE). The meeting was chaired by Ms Ummul Hasna, Secretary in Charge of MoLE.
In the meeting, several issues were discussed on remediation of RMG factories like remediation progress, status of Accord handed over factories, review panel decision on red-building and RCC Capacity building, etc. After threadbare discussion the following major decision were taken:
a. The DIFE will again request the respective City Corporations, Deputy Commissioners, RAJUK and CDA to take necessary steps to fix caution sign at visible places of 39 red marked buildings immediately.
b. The Inspector General, DIFE will ensure immediate closure of operation of factories in those building in coordination with the workers and employers.
c. RCC will initiate immediate inspection of the factories handed over by ACCORD and Alliance
d. DIFE will initiate inspection of the ACCORD escalated factories immediately
e. Capacity building of inspectors of DIFE and FSCD should be continued with the support from all potential partners
