60 engineers recruited by DIFE

Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE) has appointed 60 engineers for implementing Corrective Action Plan (CAP) in factories delegated to the RCC.

Training on Knowledge Transfer for Remediation Coordination Cell (RCC)

DIFE schedule a six month Training program through Burue Veritas Bangladesh Pvt Ltd funded by ILO on Industrial Safety Regulations, Testing and maintenance on Alarm and suppressing, Orientation on DEA guidelines, Electrical Safety Training, which started on 21st April, 2019. At first day of training program, Mr. Shib Nath Roy, Inspector General of DIFE inaugurated the training seasons with the presence of Engr. Farid Ahmed, JIG-Safety, DIFE, Mr. AKM Salehuddin, PD, Implementation of CAP for the Factories placed to RCC, Mr. George Faller, CTA and  Mr. Mauricec L Brooks, Workplace Safety Specialist from RMG Programme, ILO,  Mr. Sohel Azad, Country Manager, Bureau Veritas (Bangladesh) Pvt. Ltd (BV)  and Major Kazi Wahidul Haque (RETD), Chief Safety Officer, Case Management & Engineering Support to RCC (Remediation Coordination Cell).  

Inspector General of DIFE said “this training is very important  for inspectors and engineer for enhancing their capacity building and I am sure they will play important role in RCC”.  

The knowledge transfer workshop for Remediation Coordination Cell (RCC) on BNBC-2006, Fire act and Industrial Safety regulation is being held from 21, 23-25 April, 2019 at Hotel Century Park. DIFE inspector and RCC Engineers at first stages are participated the training programme. Undoubtedly, this types of capacity building training will build up the skill & capacity of inspector and  RCC engineer for remediation work at factory level.

In addition, The Different stakeholders FSCD, BGMEA/BKMEA, RAJUK/CDA, City Corporation/Pourashava, CEI, CIB will receive respectively this training on after.

Workshop on RCC Operation

DIFE organized a workshop on RCC Operation with the collaboration of International Laour Organization (ILO). The daylong program was held on 28th May, 2019 at Intercontinental Hotel, Dhaka.  The operational work plan and the future work for the RCC has been come out by the joint tripartite participation from DIFE, ILO and Bureau Veritas. The workshop was chaired by Mr. Shib Nath Roy, Inspector General of DIFE.  Mr. Joynal Abedin, Addl Inspector General of DIFE, Mr. George Faller, Chief Technical Advisor, RMG Programme, also present in the workshop. In the opening remarks by Hon’ble IG emphasized to create positive impression of RCC; he also said that the current resources coming from the different stakeholders must be categorized with the specific task so that optimum use of this resources is ensured.  The several issues was discussed in the programme such as Escalation Protocol, better use of RTM, modified structure of RCC,  what is working well & what is not related to RCC, Training needs assessment on Gender, and working modality on the joint work plan of all the stakeholders working in RCC. By closing remarks, Project Director of RCC, AKM Salehuddin expected co-ordial assistance from all stakeholders to strengthen RCC for decent workplace.

Training Program CAP development and follow up remediation

"CAP development and follow up remediation" training program is being held at the DIFE and RCC conference room from January 29, 2019 to February 1, 2019. 60 Engineers of Implementation of CAP for the Factories to RCC have been participating in the program

Training on Remediation Tracking Module (RTM) of RCC

For the rapid implementation of the Remediation Tracking Module for monitoring the progress of the RCC project activities, a three-day Master Trainer Training program on RTM has been organized. On 11 December, 2018, 22 Engineers from the district office of Dhaka, Gazipur, Narayangonj and Chattogram as well as Engineer from DIFE head office are participating for the Master Trainer Training program.  The Training is being held at Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics Training Centre, Agargaon, Dhaka. The field engineers will receive a user training on the same during 12-13 December, 2018 at Conference room of DIFE Head office.
